Book 2 in The Collision Duet is a continuation of Collision, an emotional, slow burn, reverse grumpy/sunshine romance.
After the shocking ending of "Collision," Merritt Adams is now faced with the emotions she's buried for almost a decade. While her boyfriend goes off to fulfill his rock star dreams in California, Merritt is left to her own devices. She drowns her sorrows in alcohol, and spirals out of control. She’s headed down a familiar dark path – one that led her father to take his own life.
TJ Cutler is an MMA fighter who knows how dangerous inner demons can be. He may be the only person who can reach Merritt, having survived his own nightmarish childhood. But Merritt needs to prove that she’s willing to take responsibility for the choices she’s made, and commit to following TJ’s rules.
Merritt accepts TJ’s help, and starts making the right choices. But the road to recovery isn’t easy. She falters and breaks TJ’s trust, disappointing him and herself. The only way for Merritt to move forward is by confronting the ghost she’s been running from all along.
Will Merritt give up and lose, or will she get up and fight?
*This is a sequel to Collision. You must read book 1 first.

Story:8/10 Spice: 1/5 Spice Hierarchy: Open Door Narration: 4/5 This duet follows Merrit after she is pulled from her car accident and spend two weeks in a coma. It has reverse grumpy/sunshine, friends to lovers, found family, and mental health rep. Typically I prefer dual POV but for this duet it worked to have just Merrit’s side. In Collision, Merrit really learns to allow others to be there for her and with her. After losing so much, she finds a family. And who wouldn’t want to be family with Chase Brooks. In Avoidance, I loved Merrit’s willingness to put her health first for awhile. Merrit’s growth through this duet is so well done. Her character development and story arc make her so relatable. These are Kristen’s first two novels and I am enjoying going back to her backlist. Her ability to write mental health representation is truly unlike any other author.
I so loved this book! I feel like sometimes the second book is not as good but this was, it kept me so intrigued, I had a hard time putting it down.
Not going to lie I kinda with she ended up with TJ. I feel like they would be great together

Eventually, she finds help through MMA trainer, TJ, and works to finally confront what she believes is the issue at the root of all her pain. ••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• 𝐓𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬: Kristen literally writes books that speak to my soul. The way she writes about mental health is unrivaled. I loved that this book focused on Merritt’s journey much more than on her relationship with Chase. This book was so much more than a romance. I loved every single second. I honestly can’t even put into words how much I enjoyed this book. It also set up the other books in the series so well and I can’t wait to read them - I’m especially excited for TJ’s book. ••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• #romancereader #teacherswhoread #bookreviews #happilyeverafter #bookrecommendations #bookreview #selfcare #reading
Merritt and Chase face life in Avoidance. While Chase tries not to give up he seems to accept temporarily letting Merritt go. I loved how badass TJ was, he was the outside force Merritt needed to GRT her reality check. If you haven't read Collison or Avoidance I highly recommend both. You won't be disappointed as Kirsten is real and raw in each story giving each and every character the life they deserve and the chance to tell their story. Loved this one
